Huntington Station Driver Arrested

Nassau police say man was driving recklessly near scene of an auto accident in East Meadow.

A Huntington Station driver was arrested in East Meadow Sunday morning after Nassau County police said they had to take evasive action to avoid being hit by him.

Police said they were investigating an auto accident in the eastbound lane of Hempstead Turnpike near Merrick Avenue about 6:20 a.m. Sunday when they spotted a car westbound in the eastbound lane.

They said the 1997 Dodge was operating at a high rate of speed as it approached police. After chasing the car, police arrested Tomas Menjivar, 25, of 55 E. 9th St. He was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving.
