Update: Rosemont Court House Burns

No injuries reported in Greenlawn blaze.

Update
A house on Rosemont Court in Greenlawn caught fire Monday just before 4:30 p.m.

Greenlawn firefighters faced heavy smoke as flames rapidly broke out in the garage and spread up to the second floor during a search of the home.

About 40 Greenlawn firefighters and paramedics, along with firefighters from Huntington Manor and Dix Hills, were on the scene for about an hour before the fire was brought under control.

"Due to an an aggressive interior attack by firefighters, damage was limited to the remaining structure," said Chief Scott Waryold, who directed the firefighting operations, supported by Assistant Chiefs Kurt Allen and Mike Zeis.

The department said no one was injured in the blaze.

It appears to have started in the garage and is under investigation by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal.  Suffolk fire-rescue coordinators were also on the scene. The East Northport and Centerport fire departments were on standby for coverage at Greenlawn's headquarters.

Nicole Crowley, a neighbor, took dramatic photos of the blaze.
