Firefighter Pulls Woman From Burning Car

Accident on Pulaski Road sends two to hospital.

An off-duty Greenlawn firefighter pulled a woman from a burning car Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighter David Mordarski was driving on Pulaski Road about 4:30 p.m. when he saw a car sitting in the road after it had apparently hit a utility pole near Harborfields High School. The male driver was out of the car when Modarski began talking with the woman passenger who was still seated in the car. He spotted smoke that quickly turned to flames shooting from the dashboard of the Taurus, reached in and hauled the woman out to safety.

The two accident victims were taken Huntington Hospital. The Greenlawn Fire Department and Suffolk police responded to the scene.
