Fire Departments Slate Open Houses
Halesite, Dix Hills and Melville departments plan demonstrations, safety advice.
If you like fire departments and safety demonstrations, now's your chance to check them out.
Local departments have scheduled open houses this weekend and next.
Halesite's department will hold its annual Fire Prevention Open House on Sunday, from 1-4 p.m. at the firehouse at 1 North New York Ave., Halesite.
The Dix Hills department will also have its open house Sunday, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at headquarters at 115 E. Deer Park Road.
The Melville department has booked its open house for Oct. 13 at the Kohl's shopping center, 834 Walt Whitman Road, Melville.
Though entertaining, the open houses are designed to provide useful information. Safety advice, demonstrations of firefighting skills and more are planned at each of the open houses.
