Update: Residents not home but family dog killed Monday in Huntington Station blaze.

Update: A fire broke out Monday morning in a two-story house on East 17th Street in Huntington Station.

Authorities on the scene said that no one was home at the time. But the family's dog died in the fire, the Huntington Manor Fire Department said. Members of the department climbed to the roof and across the second floor to extinguish flames and vent smoke.

The Greenlawn Fire Department also responded to the blaze, which reported about 9:15 a.m., as did Suffolk County police and the Huntington Community First Aid Squad.
