A look at recent crime in the area.

ISLANDIA

A Walmart employee accused of sexually abusing a 5-year-old boy in a bathroom at the Islandia store last month is facing life in prison after a second alleged victim came forward with similar allegations.

Matthew S. Bulmer, a 22-year-old Islip Terrace man, repeatedly sexually abused a boy for six years until he was arrested on the Walmart case on Oct. 19, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

DIX HILLS

A Dix Hills Sunoco gas station was robbed at gunpoint Sunday and police are seeking a man they suspect of robbing numerous other Suffolk County businesses over the past two weeks.

According to police, the man has entered eight establishments, including the Dix Hills Sunoco on Jericho Turnpike, and pretends to purchase an item.

When the employee opens the cash register, the man displays a black handgun and demands cash, police said. The robber then flees the location on foot, possibly to a vehicle waiting nearby, police said.

Besides the Dix Hills Sunoco, the robberies have occurred at six other gas stations located in Eastport, Calverton, Mastic, St. James, North Babylon and Bohemia as well as at Jamba Juice in Stony Brook. No one was injured during any of the robberies.
