Patch reports criminal activity in the Long Island community.

Northport

According to police, a black male, between 25-40 years old, about 5-foot-10 and 250-300 pounds followed a 16-year-old boy into the train station bathroom, locked the door and “forced sexual contact on the victim” and then took his money in the bathroom of the Northport Long Island Rail Road Station Aug. 10.

  • Eric Werle, 44, of Northport, was arrested in Northport on Aug. 28 and charged with third degree criminal possession of stolen property: value of property of more than $3,000.
  • Arun Konanur, 45, was arrested in Northport and charged with criminal contempt in the second degree for violating a Suffolk County Family Court order of protection. Konanurwas also charged with harassment in the second degree for creating physical contact and violating the same court order.
  • An Ontario Street resident in Elwood reported on Aug. 19 that someone entered her home through a second story window and removed two flat screen TVs and two game systems.
  • Seven windows at Retro Fitness on East Jericho Turnpike in Elwood were broken sometime between Aug. 20 and 21.
  • On Aug. 25, a Juanita Avenue resident in Elwood reported that someone stole credit cards from her pocketbook while it was on her kitchen table and used them to make several purchases at various locations.
  • On Aug. 26, police were notified that someone used a sharp object to cut two seats on a bus located at the Baumann Bus Company on Railroad Avenue in East Northport.
  • On Aug. 23, a Martingale Road resident in Fort Salonga reported that someone damaged a brick stanchion on her property.

Dix Hills

On June 28, two black males and one white female entered the Sunoco in Dix Hills. One black male, shown wearing a darkcolored do-rag, took a black Apple iPhone from the countertop without permission.

Commack

Multiple pieces of jewelry were stolen from a Commack home Aug.30, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the thief entered a residence located on Walter Court by lifting the screen to the rear bedroom window. Once inside, assorted jewelry, including a necklace, watch, and earrings, were stolen.

Other crimes:

  • Four tires and rims were stolen from a 2011 Nissan Maxima parked outside a Commack residence last week, police said.

Melville

An incident of grand larceny was reported at Huntington Quadrangle in Melville. A gray Mazda was stolen Aug. 17.

  • Aug. 20: An incident of harassment was reported at Half Hollow Road in Melville. Police noted that the complainant’s boyfriend allegedly assaulted her. 
  • Aug. 21: An incident of burglary to a home on Hilltop Drive.
