Crimes Nearby: Man Arrested for Warehouse Party

Huntington

Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for hosting a party Friday night with more than 500 attendees in an abandoned warehouse in Huntington Station.

Second Precinct police officers responded to a 911 call regarding a party in a warehouse behind 1026 New York Ave., at 10:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found about 560 people in the abandoned building, which did not have fire alarms, sprinklers or sufficient exits. Several windows were boarded up and the building was overcrowded. 

The event was coordinated by Richard Hall, 47, of Huntington Station, police said. Hall campaigned this year for the Working Families Party endorsement for Huntington Town Board but lost. Hall was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance.

KINGS PARK

Southampton Town police said a driver they found driving drunk through Bridgehampton on Tuesday had two prior DWI convictions.

Donald W. Vicital, 48, of Kings Park, was arrested on a felony drunken driving charge due to two prior convictions in the past 10 years.

NESCONSET

A Nesconset man was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to pay the state $203,275 in in restitution for failing to pay personal income taxes for several years.

According to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, Richard Edelson, 44, did not pay income taxes from 2004-2008. Edelson, a forensic accountant, was convicted of failure to file a return or report, a misdemeanor.

SMITHTOWN

Evan Rosen, 30, of Smithtown, was arrested on Oct. 22 and faces one felony count of fourth-degree grand larceny. Police said Rosen, while an employee of Sports Authority in Commack, repeatedly stole cash and gift cards between Sept. 26 and Oct. 21. 

COMMACK

Several residents in Commack awoke on Halloween to find that their car windows had been smashed in with pumpkins.

Police said multiple incidents of the vandalism were reported in the areas near Commack Road.
