Crimes Nearby: Dix Hills Man Charged in CVS Pharmacy Robberies

DIX HILLS
A Dix Hills man has been arrested and charged with robbing a CVS Pharmacy in Deer Park twice over the past month, police said.
Richard Dombroff, 22, surrendered at the First Precinct in West Babylon Monday morning following a police investigation.

Police say Dombroff went into the CVS, located at 1944 Deer Park Avenue, on Sept. 22 and jumped over the counter and forcibly stole prescription medication. Two weeks later, on Oct. 6, Dombroff went into the same CVS and did the same thing, police said.
HUNTINGTONSuffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are looking for a man who burglarized a gas station in Huntington earlier this month.

A man broke the front door of the Sunoco station at 160 New York Ave., on Oct. 2 and entered the business at approximately 2 a.m. While inside, the man stole numerous packs of cigarettes and put the items into a two-toned colored backpack and fled.
KINGS PARK
Harold Hansen, 52, of Kings Park, was arrested Oct. 14 on one violent felony count of third-degree criminal possession of a possible weapon with a prior conviction. Police said they received a tip that Hansen had a .357 magnum revolver despite a previous conviction dictating he was not to own a gun. He was arrested on Saber Lane.
COMMACK
A 26-year-old Commack woman was arrested Oct. 13 on a charge of assault with intent to cause physical injury, a misdemeanor, after she allegedly cut another person with scissors and broke the victim's cell phone within her home on Moreland Road.
- A 23-year-old Commack resident was arrested Oct. 21 after he allegedly went on a shopping spree around town last month with another person's credit card. According to police, the man used a fraudulent debit card at Staples in Commack on Sept. 18. Police said that same day, he used stolen credit card information to purchase an Xbox game from Target and a tablet from Walmart. The man was charged with identity theft in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and faces up to a year in jail if found guilty.
A Holbrook man was arrested Tuesday evening for attempting to rob a local Subway restaurant.
Police said Patrick Piccola, 23, walked into the Subway restaurant in Islandia Wednesday night at about 6:35 and approached a clerk, pointing what appeared to be a gun. Piccola fled the store, located at 1750 Veterans Memorial Highway without any money.
Fourth Precinct officers were in the area when an employee at a neighboring 7-Eleven noticed a man acting suspicious and asked a customer in the store to go outside and ask police if they were searching for someone. The man the customer described to police fit the description of the man who fled the Subway. Officer David Ferrara then walked into the 7-Eleven and arrested Piccola at about 7 p.m.SMITHTOWN
Suffolk County Police report that four homes in Smithtown and St. James have been struck by burglaries in less than a week.
A Smithtown homeowner on Grassy Pond Drive South was first to report their home was robbed on Oct. 16. Police said the burglar entered the home through an unlocked sliding glass door to take a laptop computer that was visible through the door and stole jewelry.
