I'm surprised the police are finding any crime in Huntington, they seem to enjoy hiding out on Palaski Rd giving speeding tickets like a speed trap in the back woods of Macon Georgia. It really anoys me with all the issues in the station cops have time to park on a deserted part of Palaski Rd for hours on end. We close a school because of the crime in the area but they choose to give speeding tickets in an area with no house, no schools, no people, so don't give us the public safty crap. They are proving that we have too many cops with too much time on their hands. It's time to cut their budget and down size the Suffolk police force and apply the savings to the schools!

Arrests dont bring in revenue, tickets do.

Steve - Specky says you have no idea what you are talking about. The police have done a good job. They are doing things to get crime under control you have now idea. Between raids with Liquor Authority and other agencies they will make head way. The real problem is your town officials that have not come to the plate and real I mean really work with the police to tighten problems up. There is a group in Huntington so I have been told that is trying to do just that and keep everyone accountable. I think there name is Citizens for Huntington Code Enforcement look them up on facebook and join, help the community instead of ragging on it. Chow. FYI it is Pulaski, the old potatoe farmer is turning in his grave right now.

Oh Specky you have been drinking the cool-aid. I agree with the spelling of Pulaski I played in those potato fields long before they became housing developments as for the police doing a good job that’s still debatable. When you have to close a school and the children are pushed out because of the crime the criminals have won. Raiding bars is another sore point, almost entrapment, they send in a 20 year old who looks of age in an attempt to catch a bartender off guard. Sure they should proof everyone but it’s not like there is rampant underage drinking going on in these bars. Again, misguided police action in an attempt to make it look they are doing something positive for the community. I’m not ragging on the community I’m ragging police but honestly when they have time to write speeding tickets and harass bartenders when there is real crime taking place I have a problem with it. And While I’m at it “code enforcement” I’ve heard some horror stories about Huntington citizens allowing an enforcement agent in their home only to be written up for things that were part of the home when they bought them 30 and 40 years ago. Fined, brought to court and forced to bring them up to code or face additional penalties and fines usually seniors who can least afford the expense and aggravation. I am for the rights of people especially those who reside in Huntington.
