Crime Nearby: Man Accused of 2 Stabbings

Kings Park Road in Commack turned bloody last week after two local teenagers were stabbed after an altercation with a young Bay Shore man.

According to police, Fourth Precinct Squad detectives responded to a call about a disturbance on the Indian Hollow School property involving several people at 10:40 p.m. last Tuesday and discovered that two 19-year-old men had been stabbed.

Clyde Ricks, 20, of Bay Shore, was arrested as he tried to flee and was charged with assault in the first and second degrees for allegedly stabbing Guy Derival, 19, and Nick Governale, 19, both of Commack.

Contractor Accused of Stealing from Senior

An East Rockaway man has been charged with stealing nearly $200,000 from multiple clients who hired the unlicensed contractor to repair their driveways, Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced Tuesday.

Robert Cohan, 26, was arrested by DA investigators and charged with second degree grand larceny and operating a home improvement business without a license. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted and is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court, Hempstead. 

Man Faces Restaurant Burglary Charges

A Hicksville man is charged with sneaking in the back door of a restaurant and taking cash from the register, Nassau County Police said. 

Scott Gilmor, 37, of Hicksville entered La Finca restaurant at 170 Broadway in Hicksville through a rear door on the morning of July 4, police said. Gilmor removed an undetermined amount of cash from the register and fled in an unknown direction. 

Following an investigation, detectives arrested Gilmor at his home Monday without incident. 

DA: Bookkeeper Bilked Employer

The bookkeeper of a Locust Valley architectural firm has beencharged with stealing more than $866,000 from her employer over a six-year period by forging checks with the signature of one of the firm's partners, and then cashing those checks to pay for luxury vacations, fancy restaurants and shopping sprees.

Lori Maceluch, 48, of Huntington, was arraigned Wednesday on a grand jury indictment, charging her with grand larceny and 378 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, said Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice.

Drug Task Force Arrests 2

A Hampton Bays man was arrested Tuesday for reportedly selling heroin, following a six-month investigation by the East End Drug Task Force.

According to Southampton Town police, a search warrant was executed at the Penny Lane home of 46-year-old Kenneth Moses, and he and a woman were arrested there. 

Moses was charged with two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, as well as two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, all felonies. Police said Moses sold heroin dating back to late January of this year.

A 40-year-old female was also arrested on a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Man Facing Sexual Assault Charges

A 60-year-old Sayville man was charged with engaging in a sexual act and sexual contact with a child under the age of 11, according to a police report.

Felipe Sanchez was arrested by Suffolk Police on June 28 and charged with two felonies, a B felony for allegedly engaging in a sexual act, an E felony for allegedly having sexual contact with an individual younger than 11, as well as a misdemeanor charge for allegedly acting in a manner endangering the welfare of a child.

Sanchez posted a $20,000 cash bond at a pre-arraignment court hearing on June 29 and is due back in court on Aug. 28. 

A temporary order of protection barring Sanchez from contacting the victim was issued at the hearing.

Suffolk Police declined to provide specific details regarding the incidents, which took place on May 26 according to a court database, given the nature of the crime and age of victim.
