Cops: Huntington Man Dies After Motorcycle Crash

Suffolk County Police are investigating a Thursday night crash in Huntington that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

Detectives say Craig Byer was driving a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Elm Street and lost control of the motorcycle at the Nassau Road intersection at about 9:55 p.m. Byer skidded through the intersection, hit a curb and was ejected off his motorcycle, police said.

Byer, 42, of Huntington, was transported to Huntington Hospital where he died of his injuries.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.

They better start repaving 25A sooner than later before the next accident happens with a motorcycle hitting a pothole.

So very sad! My condolences to his family... Are they checking for sand in the road? The town was slow on cleaning up this Spring and the article said he skidded...

There's a new guy ??? Guess this isn't like sports. You put in a new guy and the team (crew) will do a better job.
