Collision, Rollover Close 25A in Centerport

Two cars collided along the busy East Main Street corridor connecting Huntington and Northport Friday afternoon, sending three people to the hospital and snarling traffic, Suffolk Police said. 

The accident happened at approximately 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of East Main Street and Centershore Road in Centerport, across from the U.S. Post Office.

The collision damaged the hood of one car and sent an SUV over on its roof.

The accident also cut off traffic flowing east and west between Huntington and Northport. And it stopped traffic between Centerport and Greenlawn along Centershore Road.   

Three people were transported to a local hospital with head, neck and back injuries, according to officials on hand.

Centerport and Greenlawn fire departments responded to the accident.
