Northport

Peter Panagatos, 50, of Hauppauge was arrested on March 19 and charged with fourth degree grand larceny after he allegedly stole $3,000 from an area business on Feb. 27. Panagatos, reportedly an employee of the business, turned himself into Northport police headquarters after the employer produced security camera footage of him taking a cash bag outside to a walk-in box, then exiting the box without the cash bag. He was arraigned at Northport Village Court on March 19.

Smithtown

Juana Membrano, 20, of Brentwood, was arrested in Smithtown on March 18 at 3:30 a.m. charges of third-degree false reporting of an incident. Reports state Membrano reported to Suffolk County Police that she was the victim of a robbery committed by four men on Locust Street in Lake Ronkonkoma.

St. James

A St. James man was arrested after disposing a woman's body in the woods at Manorville Hills County Park in February, according to police. Police said Matthew Krauss, 34, of St. James, dumped the body of Pura Simancas, 45, of Central Islip, between Feb. 27 and Feb. 28 in the woods at Manorville Hills County Park after they had used heroin and taken Xanax. Krauss was charged under the New York State Public Health Law for dumping the body of Simancas, a misdemeanor crime.

Valley Stream

A 59-year-old Valley Stream man has been arrested on charges that he arranged to meet a 6-year-old child in order to take pornographic photos of her, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. 

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli announced the arrest Monday following an investigation in which Allan Davis, of Valley Stream, used the internet to make arrangements with a person he believed to be the mother of a 6-year-old female to take nude photographs of the child.

Davis, who was arrested without incident on March 23, was charged with attempt to endanger the welfare of a child and attempt to manufacture child pornography.
