Checkpoints: Are They a Good Idea?

Police stop drivers to check for violations.

Suffolk County police were halting all cars at midday Sunday at the intersection of Lowndes Avenue And Railroad Street in Huntington Station, looking for violations.

They frequently set up checkpoints on Saturday nights at nearby New York Avenue intersections, which often lead to DWI or other charges for the drivers.

Have you been stopped at a checkpoint? Do you think they're a good idea? Has a checkpoint been set up in your neighborhood?
