A Week Later, Hospital Exec Is Still Missing

After more than one week of searching for a man missing from his Montauk motel, police still have few answers.

, a 50-year-old executive at , was last seen at on Aug. 28 at about 1 a.m., according to .

, Detective Sgt. Robert Gurney said Richardson's family noticed him missing from the hotel around 6 a.m., the morning they were supposed to leave to return home to Dix Hills. They waited for him to return and then called police at around 10 a.m., he said.

Eight days later, Richardson has not been found.

"Right now we are still following up on any tips and leads that are coming in," said Detective Lt. Chris Anderson on Wednesday. "We are still getting leads."

Anderson would not speculate what police think may have happened to Richardson, but added, "Were there to be any concern regarding the public we would made that clear."

Still, he said, "We’re keeping an open mind on the investigation."

Richardson's family, which includes his wife Mary and their three sons 15 to 10, has not spoken publicly since he was reported missing. 

A search of the area was conducted over several days. Helicopters scanned the waters and woods, officers went into the woods on quads and patrolled the beaches, and K-9 dogs were brought in.

One day after he was reported missing, police issued a missing persons bulletin for Richardson and handed out fliers at local businesses. 

Richardson was known to take walks on the ocean beach. There's a beach access just across from the Old Montauk Highway motel.

Richardson, whose photograph is attached here, is described as a white man, 5-foot-six-inches tall, 150 pounds, has short gray hair and wears reading glasses. He was last seen wearing running shoes and an orange hat. He has a small scar on his chin.
