6 Businesses Cited for Underage Alcohol Sales
Suffolk police check on 9 businesses in town.
Six businesses in the Town of Huntington were cited for selling alcohol to underage customers Thursday during an investigation by Suffolk County police.
Using a volunteer younger than 21, police checked on nine businesses, some chosen randomly, others because of community complaints.
Store representatives were charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child for selling alcohol to a minor.

Dhavel Patel, 21, of H and J Foodmart, 2 Laurel Rd., East Northport
Carlos Garcia, 34, of Los Compas Deli and Grocery, 161 Depot Rd., Huntington Station

Harcharan Garcha, 54, of Huntington Gas, 341 West Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station
Erkan Boynuince, 49, of Food Start, 304 Larkfield Road, East Northport
Steven Sarro, 24, of Superstar Beer and Soda, 516 Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station
Ramon Rodriguez, 53, of Brothers Deli, 243 Broadway, Greenlawn
Each store representative was issued a field appearance ticket to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on May 18.
The following three establishments complied with New York State Law and refused the sale:
- Deli Cigar Beer, 217 Route 110, Huntington Station
- Valero Gas, 445 Route 25, Huntington Station
- One Stop Market, 246 Pulaski Rd., East Northport
The operation was part of an ongoing effort by the Suffolk County Police Department to ensure compliance of laws pertaining to the sales of alcohol and tobacco products.
