3 Injured in Jericho Turnpike Crash

Pickup truck and 2 other vehicles involved.

Three men were injured, one seriously, in a three-car crash on Jericho Turnpike Friday afternoon.

Suffolk County police said a pickup truck leaving a lot at 390 East Jericho Turnpike, near Melville Road, tried to turn west, crossing the eastbound lanes. That truck collided with a Ford Explorer, which in turn rolled over a Honda.

The Huntington Community First Aid squad said an 18-year-old man in the Ford Explorer was Medevaced from a Walt Whitman Mall lot to Stony Brook University Medical Center in serious condition.  Another man in the Explorer was taken to Huntington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. And a man in the Honda was also taken to Huntington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The squad reported having three ambulances on scene.

The man in the pickup truck was not injured.

Jericho was closed from 11o all the way to beyond Melville Road. It looked like a doozy.

Yes, it was ugly. We've seen a really dramatic photo of the scene but can't get the rights to it.

We were at the light heading west right in front of this-- unbelievable sight, so glad to hear the injuries weren't worse. Never seen anything like it.

the only "worse" you can get when you're airlifted to Stony Brook is dead.
