3 Children Struck by Car in Huntington Station

Boy, 6, seriously injured at Academy Place intersection.

Three children were injured, one seriously, Saturday when they were hit by an SUV in Huntington Station.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives said the accident occurred at 2:42 p..m.  Ralph Williams was  driving on Academy Place and when he started to make a left turn onto New York Avenue, he struck the children who were in the crosswalk.

A  boy, 6, suffered a serious head injury and is scheduled to be transferred to Schneider Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Park.

A girl, 3, suffered a cut finger; another girl, 11, suffered a minor injury while another children was unhurt. All four were accompanied by their mother,  Dorothy Blue, 35, of Medford.

Williams, 49, of Westbury was not injured. Police impounded his vehicle for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
