Re: Cuthbertson vs. Dwyer
Regarding Mark Cuthbertson's letter about former superintendent Dwyer's allegations.
Letter sent to Long Islander:
“An honest politician is one who, when he is bought, will stay bought.” – Mark Twain
Looking past the sleight of hand and "fluttering veil" of Mr. Cuthbertson’s rebuttal to former school board president Dwyer, readers will discover that the objective of many of the town board's actions is to consolidate government control over the economy while at the same time getting free publicity for the next re-election campaign.
Further, for what purpose does it serve to compare the state mandated spending of our government education system with the mostly discretionary and arbitrary spending of the town board unless it is to distract voters from the ugly truth concerning the failure of its New Deal policies?
The problem with the Avalon Bay project is that many voters have no confidence in the board's ability to either control or stimulate the economy through housing initiatives or other state sponsored measures that often amount to nothing more than just taking from Peter to pay Paul.
