Whew. After 2 years, the project Manny Galán and I are producing finally has an official trailer to share. Join WET WILLY JONES and AXEL RODD McGEE on their undersea quest aboard the MANTA RAY, a cartoon-retrieving vessel commanded by CAPTAIN CORNELIUS CARTOON. This brand new animated/puppet show adventure plumbs the depths of CARTOON LAGOON in search of the best and the WORST cartoons ever made.
And yes, the show pays homage to many things we hold dear, the first one being “MSTK3000,” the show about making fun of bad movies while you watch them. But in our case, classic cartoons will be lovingly mocked! But we will also have a full show full of adventure, sarcasm, danger, thrills, and sarcasm. And jokes. Some of them sarcastic.
A few weeks ago I blogged about , and this show is certainly a love letter to the pop culture of our childhood. In the spirit of “MAD” and “Wacky Packages” we skewer the things we love. Ain’t that always how people are? But as regular readers of my comic/blog here on the Patch may have noticed, I love it when stupid topics are taken seriously, and vice versa. “Cartoon Lagoon” also takes very serious topics, and gives them the lack of reverence they deserve, like getting old and the fear of dying…with puppets!
Our audience is, hopefully, kids, teenagers, and, um…humans! We’ve embedded a high pitch whistle into the show to keep dogs and mosquitos away, but otherwise we think everyone else will enjoy it.
