Spencer: You Can Believe in Me

18th District legislator visits Washington, D.C., on MLK day.

Dear Editor,

This week marks the 83rd birthday of a truly great American citizen.  Every January, we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and all that he accomplished during his lifetime.

Last weekend, my family and I had the honor of visiting the newly-dedicated memorial to Dr. King in Washington, D.C.. The memorial is one to behold.  It centers on the concept of hope during periods of struggle.

The message of hope was expressed by Dr. King throughout the Civil Rights Movement.  In order to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles, he inspired his followers with words of optimism and focused on gaining the equality for which they struggled so hard.

That concept of hope continues to resonate with all of us today.  Many continue to struggle in these uncertain economic times.  Everyday citizens continue to face hardship in the form of unemployment or monetary troubles, among others.  However, despite the hardships we face, hope is what keeps us going.  It is hope in the American dream, in American society, and in our elected officials which allows us to persevere and continue to push for better lives.

It is my pleasure to share in the legacy of Dr. King.  Throughout my tenure as a Suffolk County Legislator, you can believe in me.  My actions will be to serve the community which I represent and give them the hope they need by advancing their interests.  The ultimate result will be a better community in which to live.

In the words of Dr. King, “the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”  These are challenging times.  I strongly believe that my work in serving my constituents will add positively to the community which we all cherish.  This week, remember the message of hope of Dr. King.  Our hope will allow us to endure and face our hardships head-on, especially here in Suffolk County.

Sincerely,

William R. Spencer

Suffolk County Legislator

They do have the metal inside and they are all the same size. If you are seriously interested I willRead More gladly send you some more pictures. As far as the price, the best I can do is a bundle. Maybe 4 for $100 or 2 for $60. They were looked at by a store owner who wanted to purchase and sell in her store for $50 each. They are very cute, very trendy :)

Do they have the metal inside that held the glass bottles? Are they different sizes? It's hard toRead More tell from the pic. I would definitely buy 2 or 3 but, I wouldn't be able to pay 40.00 each. 20-25 each I can do. Thanks, Karen

I would love to become part of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. However, for a new business itRead More is costly and may not fit into every new business owners budget. May I suggest a provisional 1-year membership at a reduced cost. Once successful the provisional members can give back by supporting other new members.
