Happy Second Birthday Huntington Patch!

The site celebrates two successful years in Huntington today.

Two years ago today, Huntington Patch was launched through the efforts of some hard-working people that came before me to lay the foundation for a local site, like our nearly-900 other sister sites throughout the nation, which are truly changing the local news industry.

As a former print journalist and magazine editor, I took over as local editor at Huntington Patch about 10 months ago. For me, the exciting transition to the cutting-edge Patch way during the past year has been fulfilling for me both professionally and personally on many levels.

But it's not just about us here, it's really about all of you.

Today's Huntington Patch birthday celebration is a shared milestone which has come about through support and accomplishments that have far exceeded the expectations and goals of the first day of launch Feb. 10, 2010, in a community that is tuning in and embracing the hyper-local Patch approach — and most importantly, becoming a part of it.

In the years since we launched, we've published more than 4,000 articles and videos, not to mention the great blogs, business listings, a full calendar of events, our roundup of local announcements and much more.

Patch is truly about community, so as we blow out the candles on this second birthday, hats off to anyone who has commented on an article, placed an ad, contributed a story or news tip, liked us on Facebook, tweeted us on Twitter or faithfully followed us through our first two years to get the news of the town and whatever else Patch provides to you.

And as we continue to evolve and grow we hope you will continue to:

Track Traffic and Gas PricesThis newly-added tab features a live traffic map of how traffic is flowing in Huntington. There's also a live listing of the least expensive gas available in the area.

Add Photos to the Community GalleryWe're always taking photos around Huntington at events, but we want to see your best shots too. Add them to this gallery so your neighbors can see. You can also add photos to articles by clicking "Upload" near the photos we've featured.

We love discussion and smart debate and our articles are a great place for the community to do so about meetings you may have missed, new initiatives, school accomplishments, vacant properties and more.

Huntington Patch would not be possible without the guidance of Regional Editor Jason Molinet, Associate Regional Editor Pam Robinson, Senior Regional Editor David Reich-Hale and the work of Advertising Manager Meryl Kessler and Calendar Editor Samantha Powderly.

Cheers and happy birthday!

Usually cats stay within a few houses of home Sometimes they just hunker down under a neighbor'sRead More shed or deck. He is more likely to come to you at night when there aren't as many lawn mower sounds. Walk around with a can of the stinkiest cat food that you can find. Call to him, and listen for a response. He may answer you with soft meows. Make a trail of stinky cat food to your door and leave the can at the door overnight. Hang up signs with a photo in the neighborhood. Go door to door and tell neighbors to call you if they see him. Kids playing, and dog walkers might spot him. Once you have an idea, of where he is, you can use a have a heart trap to catch him, if he won't come to you. Some cats get so scared when they get out, that they don't recognize their humans. We have had cats disappear for months, before trapping them.
