Please join us in our efforts to help put a stop to teen drug addiction and empower our kids to create a positive future for themselves.

The Just Like Me Project empowers teens to make healthy decisions about drug use. The program builds self-worth through Social Impact Art projects and brings kids, parents, teachers and local organizations together as a community to address the issues of substance abuse and other destructive decision-making. Northport Public Library, Suffolk Community College and Central Islip Plumbing are all currently hosting “I matter” Social Impact Art campaigns in support of the Just Like Me Project.

The Just Like Me Project empowers teens through Social Impact Art projects that cultivate earned self-worth and steer kids away from destructive decision-making, including substance abuse. Our peer-to-peer, project- based approach develops a sense of true purpose through the power of the creative process, uniting teens, business, education, civic, faith and political leaders, as well as community members, to inspire positive, self- affirming behavior and lasting change.

The Center for Creative Development, in cooperation with the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), partners with schools and community youth organizations to offer this transformative program that encourages self-discovery through art. Participants work hand-in-hand, teaching and learning valuable life and leadership skills as they engage their community in support of their continued growth and development.

Americans have been actively engaged in addressing the crisis of teen substance abuse for nearly 50 years, yet despite having devoted massive resources over multiple generations, the problem has grown year after year. There is a desperate call for a new, more effective approach to addiction and the Just Like Me Project answers that call. As a comprehensive character development program, the Just Like Me Project offers an enriching environment to cultivate social and emotional intelligence that today’s education system often fails to adequately address.

Such growth is based on attitudes, appreciation and values, and utilizes the creative processes to transform views of the self. The Just Like Me Project delivers an experiential process that empowers teens to courageously articulate their questions, conditions and concerns—initially regarding drug use, inevitably regarding themselves—leading to greater social-emotional maturity and healthier lives, period!
