Taking brush strokes of data to create a picture of Huntington.

Where Do Most People from Out of State Live?
The map above shows a snapshot of the percentage of people originally from another state across your town. Nationally, the rate of people moving to another state increased to 12.0 percent in 2012 from a record low of 11.6 percent in 2011.

And two items about veterans:

Do Veterans Live in High-Earning Areas?
Nationally, veterans appeared to be faring better than most civilians during the recovery - at least in earnings. The median income for male veterans was at $35,725 and at $30,540 for female veterans. Compare that to civilian males and females which were $30,822 and $20,634 respectively. However, new veterans often have a hard time finding jobs, in part because business owners are worried that their skills in service won’t translate to the civilian workplace.

Do Veterans Live in Poorer Areas of Huntington?
The relationship between veterans and poverty is complex. Nationally, poverty among veterans is half that compared to the general public. But when vets fall through the cracks, they can fall hard.  Poverty coupled with other factors like a lack of support networks or substandard housing has made it 50 percent more likely for veterans to become homeless than other Americans
