The Libertarian View - The Presidential Debate at Hofstra

Who won the debate? Obama or Romney? Does it really matter?

This week was the Hofstra Presidential Debate and I was in attendance on the streets after being on an interview on the local Hofstra Radio show hosted by Gary Duff.  I was the "Libertarian" panelist opposite a democrat and republican.  The topic was the debate and the republican was talking mainly about republican/romney values and what they will do to make the country come back to it's former glory and the democrat was spouting the democrat/obama values and what they will do.

My comments focused mainly on how much they sounded alike!  Both sides believe the Patriot Act and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) were a good thing for America and the loss of our liberties and freedoms was an incidental.  They both believe we need a "strong military and a strong economy" but ironically all the talking points were sounding identical to me!  No matter who wins our debt will continue to rise and our military interventions will continue.  They both think we need to be the policeman of the world, continue the war on drugs, continue giving foreign aid to our "friends" who literally spit on us!  Obama wants to pull out of Afghanistan by 2014 and Romney doesn't want to pledge a date.

Well, I believe the Patriot Act and the NDAA are unconstitutional.  If we allow the governmant to take away our liberties we are not America anymore, the way the Founding Fathers had envisioned.  We have 900 bases in 136 countries!  Our jails are filled to the brim with kids that were arrested for a dime bag of weed, Benghazi, Egypt and Libya do not defend our embassies and we still hand them billions in aid!  We trained Afghani soldiers who are now shooting our troops!  We have been there for 10 years rebuilding their schools, roads and bridges and the Tappan Zee Bridge is falling apart!

So my view is, bring our troops home TODAY!  Close these bases and let's stop spending our hard earned taxpayer dollars policing countries who hate us!  Let's stop nation building and fix the Tappan Zee.

The ONLY way to bring down our debt is to reduce the Federal Government to it's Constitutional size.  Keep a strong military and when Congress declares WAR, win that war decisively and come on home!

I am asking everyone to at least look at the Lbertarian Platform and THINK about it. (go to www.lpsc.li to start) and think about becoming a part of a very inclusive group of freedom and liberty loving people.  I think you will find that you are more Libertarian than you realize!

Oh and about the debate, who won?  Obama or Romney?  It doesn't really matter.  Not much will change either way.  We will still have a $16 trillion + debt, still be at war,our jails will still be full.  The lesser of two evils may win, but the American People will lose!

Why don't we VOTE Libertarian this one time.  We can always go back to more debt, more war and less sense!

Does the Patch accept articles from district spokespeople? Perhaps that is the answer to thisRead More problem! Short but informative articles can be submitted each week and then Huntington could get the coverage it so desires. Each town's Patch would cover whichever high schools are in it's area. Problem solved!

They do have the metal inside and they are all the same size. If you are seriously interested I willRead More gladly send you some more pictures. As far as the price, the best I can do is a bundle. Maybe 4 for $100 or 2 for $60. They were looked at by a store owner who wanted to purchase and sell in her store for $50 each. They are very cute, very trendy :)

Do they have the metal inside that held the glass bottles? Are they different sizes? It's hard toRead More tell from the pic. I would definitely buy 2 or 3 but, I wouldn't be able to pay 40.00 each. 20-25 each I can do. Thanks, Karen

I would love to become part of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. However, for a new business itRead More is costly and may not fit into every new business owners budget. May I suggest a provisional 1-year membership at a reduced cost. Once successful the provisional members can give back by supporting other new members.
