The Huntington Lighthouse was named this month as one of the Top 30 great places to go for a last-minute summer getaway by Car & Travel Magazine.
Celebrating this year, the No. 13 ranked destination was recognized as the first, poured, reinforced-concrete lighthouse on the east coast by the August 2012 publication produced by AAA New York.
"This 42-foot tall slice of New York's nautical history still stands thanks to decades of work by local preservationists," according to the report.
No. 1 on the list was the Museum at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (Woodstock). Baltimore' Ft. McHenry, the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, Racquette Lake in the Adirondacks and Coney Island were also listed.
