Fireman's Parade, Fireworks Postponed

Severe storms Wednesday cause cancellation of all Fireman's Fair activities.

A severe summer storm which moved through the area has forced the cancellation of Wednesday's Huntington Fireman's Fair activities, according a dispatcher with the Huntington Manor Fire Department. 

All events, including the parade and fireworks planned for Wednesday at  have been rescheduled for Thursday, according to event organizers. 

The parade will run at 7:30 p.m. Thursday; the fireworks will run as planned at 9:30 p.m.

Firefighters made the call to cancel activities just before 6 p.m as strong storms producing heavy rain and hail moved Huntington. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Long Island until 9 p.m.

Nearly nearly 19,000 customers are currently without power as storms move across Long Island, accoring to Long Island Power Authority.
