April 23: Huntington Car Charging Station; Poetry Winners

5 things you need to know today.

1. Huntington Electric Car Charging Station: The Town of Huntington will unveil at a press conference Monday a five-vehicle charging station for electric vehicles that commuters can use at the South Parking Garage at the Huntington Train Station. The project was funded through the Town’s Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant from federal stimulus funds and a grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, according to town officials. 

2. Augustana: San Diego rock band, best known for their singles, "Boston" and "Sweet and Low" willtak ethe stage at the Paramount Theater Monday. Opening for the band will be Portland-based Greylag. Reminder: and others this week for brush fire responders.

3. Rainy Monday: The heavy weather, actually a Nor'easter, could drop as much as one inch per hour of rain in some bands along with strong winds. The rain is expected to taper off by Monday afternoon. Showers are possible into Tuesday. Localized flooding is likely.

4. Poetry Winners: Winners of the Poetry for the HART: Teen Poetry Project, a Town of Huntington Public Art Initiative, will recognized Monday at a ceremony and reception Monday at the Walt Whitman Birthplace at 7 p.m. For more information call 631-351-3099.

5. Huntington Home Games: Patchogue-Medford boys lacrosse plays at Walt Whitman at 7:15 p.m. Monday.
