5 Things Going On This Weekend

Some events this weekend in Huntington.

1. Halesite's Comedy For A Cause: A Fundraiser at the Halesite Fire Department Saturday for the Hook & Ladder Company. Admission price of $35 includes meal cooked by members, entry into a door prize raffle and a comedy show featuring four comedians from the "Comedy to Go" company. Doors open at 7 p.m.

2. Breakfast Fundraiser: The Huntington Youth Bureau Youth Development Research Institute will hold a Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebee's of Huntington Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tickets: $10 per person or $5 for children under 3. Price includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and a beverage (coffee, tea, soda, or juice).

3. Huntington Station Spring Cleanup: Friends of Huntington Station Latin Quarter will sponsor their third annual spring cleanup along New York Avenue sidewalks and properties in Huntington Station from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Free slice of pizza for participants.

4. Book Signing: Author Scott Starkey, who penned "How to Beat the Bully Without Really Trying," will be at the Harborfields Library Friday at 7 p.m. to read from and sign his novel. Call (631) 757-4200 to register.

5. Prom Boutique Gown Collection: The Long Island Volunteer Center will be collecting new and gently-used prom dresses and accessories  for their 18th annual prom boutique Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Huntington YMCA.
