Free Home Mold Remediation Services Available for Superstorm Sandy Victims

If you experienced home flooding from Superstorm Sandy, you may be eligible for free professional mold cleaning and remediation services from the Community Development Corporation of Long Island (CDCLI).

Thanks to funding provided by the American Red Cross and the Robin Hood Foundation, CDCLI is offering this new program, which provides inspection, cleaning and treatment of mold infested homes. To be eligible, homes must have been flooded by Superstorm Sandy, still have visible mold on household surfaces and families must meet the following income guidelines:

Program participants will also have the opportunity to explore the full range of services available under CDCLI’s Sandy Housing Recovery Program including:

· Case management services and referrals to additional resources

· Foreclosure prevention counseling and assistance with insurance claims

· Loans, including a bridge loan up to $25,000 for those waiting for insurance payments; a home improvement loan up to $25,000; and an Emergency Home Repair Loan up to $5,000

· Weatherization services
