Join the Crowd and Follow HUFSD on Facebook and Twitter

The Huntington School District’s foray into the world of social media has been viewed as a success, attracting hundreds of followers. As word about it continues to spread, many more are expected to sign-up in the weeks ahead.

Students, parents, faculty and staff and alumni are signing on as followers for a variety of reasons, mainly to keep abreast of district events, announcements, happenings and accomplishments.

As the public’s appetite for information grows, the district saw a need to develop Facebook and Twitter pages to meet the interests of those devoted to these popular communication tools.

The district has established Facebook posting guidelines to prevent abuse. A copy of the guidelines can be found on Huntington’s Facebook page itself. Those posting items “will be held to a very high standard,” Huntington Superintendent James W. Polansky said.

While the district’s website continues to be the backbone of Huntington’s effort to share news and important information, the district’s Facebook and Twitter pages are soaring in popularity, especially among those who routinely use their handheld devices to access the internet.

The district has every intention of continuing to maintain its extensive website (www.hufsd.edu), which features new stories and photos every school day. The website is still gaining new fans as measured by the number of visitors to the site and the amount of pages those visitors open. Folks are logging on from desktops, laptops, tablets, handheld devices and phones while at home, work and every other place imaginable.
