Huntington Foundation's Annual Gala Nears
The Huntington Foundation’s 21st annual Reach for the Stars gala is shaping up to be quite an evening. The affair is slated for Friday, February 7 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. Proceeds from the event will be plowed back into the Huntington School District in support of the organization’s efforts to enhance the educational experience of students on every grade level.
Gala organizers are putting the final touches on a night they are confident will be pleasing to all. A crowd of more than 250 is expected to attend. The affair will consist of a delectable pre-dinner hour, a delicious hot meal, music, dancing and dozens of raffles. Since its inception, the Foundation has funded nearly $1 million in educational grants in the district.
Huntington High School librarian and Class of 2015 faculty advisor Patricia Dillon will be honored at next month’s gala with the Huntington Foundation’s Spirit Award in recognition of her remarkable efforts on behalf of students.

“The event warrants a huge turnout,” Huntington Superintendent James W. Polansky said. “Not only does it provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the great things happening in the Huntington school community with a terrific group of people, the proceeds from the event will provide additional great things for our schools and students!”
Tickets for the gala are on sale now for $95. Seating for the gala is limited. An invitation and additional information can be located by visiting the Huntington Foundation’s web page at www.hufsd.edu (click on School Community, then Huntington Foundation and finally “Forms and Files”) or by contacting Laurene Napurano at (631) 988-0949 or laurenen@optonline.net.

The evening traditionally draws a large crowd of parents, alumni, district executives, building and department administrators, teachers, coaches and family members and friends of the Spirit Award honoree. With ticket prices being cut $30 for this year’s gala along with a new venue, attendance is expected to spike upward.
Over the past decade the Huntington Foundation has presented its Spirit Award to Christine Bene, Michelle Marino, Barbara Cutrone, John J. Finello, Doris Quintilian, Vicki Mingin, Beverly Wayne, Lou Giani, the district’s nursing staff, Eunice Marchi and Joan Fretz.
