H-ton Kids Dressed for Back to School

In the final days of summer vacation, many parents are busy dragging their kids around shopping for clothes for the new school year. Four Huntington School District students got their “15 minutes of fame” when they modeled fashions from Bloomingdale’s during a News 12 Style Watch back-to-school segment.

The Huntington students included Flower Hill School first grader Joel Sainvilus, Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School third grader Saniya Sanvilus, J. Taylor Finley Middle School eighth grader Tim Low and Huntington High School sophomore Greg Rorke.

Not only were members of the Huntington group asked to model, but they were given star treatment after the shoot and were brought on a private tour of the News 12 television studio by “What’s Going On” news anchor Elisa DeStefano.

The fashions modeled by the Huntington students were provided by Bloomingdale’s. The company’s public relations manager David Kirshenbaum and Newsday style writer Ann Bratskeir provided commentary on the sleek fashions.

The featured trends included leather, some animal prints and a lot of plaid and British influences such as Burberry and even The Beatles in honor of the 50th anniversary of the legendary rock band’s appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

The Huntington students indicated they thoroughly enjoyed the fashion experience. They definitely had a lot of laughs when asked if they were “ready to go back to school.” Does any kid want their summer vacation to end?

“It was a fun experience,” Mr. Rorke said. “I’m glad I had the opportunity to model and visit the studio.”
