HBDMB Planning Trip to Orlando

The Huntington High School Blue Devil marching band has been granted permission to travel to Walt Disney Resort World in Orlando, Florida from February 17-21. A field trip application was approved by the Huntington School Board during a public meeting on Monday, August 5.

Approximately 100 students and 10 staff members will participate in the trip, which will be led by band directors Brian Stellato and Jason Giachetti. “All student participants must be members of the competitive marching band,” states the trip application submitted by the band directors. “These students will receive detailed instruction and training, which will allow them to effectively participate in the Disney workshops and parades.”

The trip will be privately funded. Activities include workshops presented by Disney professional instructors and performers, including color guard and band instrumental workshops and a Walt Disney World parade.

“There is a direct correlation between this trip and our competitive band program,” states the trip application. “This trip gives our students an incredible performance opportunity along with a chance to learn from and work with professional performing musicians.”
