Blue Devil Sports News

The Huntington High School junior varsity football team’s four game winning streak ended with 26-6 loss to Miller Place at home. The Panthers set the tempo for the game, scoring quickly on their first possession.  At the same time, Huntington’s offense struggled to find its rhythm, but a great catch by Ted Deegan in the second quarter helped the Blue Devils even the score at 6-6.

Defensively, Huntington had its hands full, but held-up nicely until the final play of the half when a Blue Devil turnover gave Miller Place the ball on Huntington’s 2 yard line. In a goal line stand, the Blue Devil defensive unit denying Miller Place the touchdown for three consecutive plays before the Panthers scored on their fourth attempt to grab a 13-6 halftime lead.

Huntington took the second-half kickoff and drove deep into Miller Place territory, but the offense turned the ball over and from that point on the Blue Devils never really mounted another scoring challenge. Miller Place scored again midway through the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.
