The opening day kickoff is still more than three months off, but Section XI has already posted varsity football schedules on its website (www.sectionxi.org).
The Huntington Blue Devils will begin the 2013 campaign on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Harborfields at 4 p.m. The regular season will consist of eight games, split equally between home and away contests:
• Wednesday, Sept. 11 - Huntington at Harborfields 4 p.m.
• Saturday, Sept. 21 - Comsewogue at Huntington 1:30 p.m.
• Saturday, Sept. 28 - Amityville at Huntington 1:30 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 5 - Sayville at Huntington 2:30 p.m.
• Friday, Oct. 11 - Huntington at Westhampton Beach 5:30 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 19 - Huntington at Miller Place 2 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 26 - Bellport at Huntington 1:30 p.m.
• Friday, Nov. 1 - Huntington at Islip 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils’ game against Amityville on September 28 will be the centerpiece of Huntington High School’s Homecoming Day activities. It will include the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen during half-time festivities. A morning parade through Huntington village will precede the football game. A Saturday evening dance for students is also planned. Parade floats will be constructed at the school on Friday night, September 27.
