Huntington Library Service Hours Cut

If you’re a regular patron of the Main Street Branch of the Huntington Public Library, you’ve probably noticed some changes during this year under the reign of the new Director Michael Bogin.

 

Due to the current year budget, a decision was made this past Spring to close the library on Friday nights. A second cut was made by adjusting the Sunday closing schedule which should coincide with the school year in order to support our students, but instead the library closed on Sundays in May and did not reopen until October. We are urging the Board of Trustees to reinstate the Friday evening hours and the Sunday Summer Schedule.

Choosing to spend the limited funds on renovations to the main floor is confusing. The front desk was perfectly serviceable as it was and lent an impressively classic air, as did the bookshelves that used to separate the front desk from the main floor. A patron commented that front desk area now resembles a Kinkos.
