Holiday Parade Lights Up Village

Huntington residents lined New York Avenue and Main Street Saturday to see the fourth annual holiday parade.

Multiple fire departments blasted their horns and sirens as they made their way along the route and peple on floats tossed candy to the crowds while various cartoon characters danced along the route.

The ultimate prize for kids, a visit with Santa Claus, wrapped up a street fair after the parade ended and the Christmas tree was lit up.

The Greenlawn Fire Department and the Huntington Chamber of Commerce were among the winners for their floats.

I would just like to remind everyone that without the hard work and dedication of the Huntington Fire Dept. and Huntington Manor Fire Dept. this parade and festival would not be possible. These two departments work tirelessly for months to prepare and plan this event. The day of the parade a contingent of volunteer firefighters from both departments along work together to raise and decorate the tree on wall street and prepare the stage for Santas arrival. Thank you once again to these two Fire departments for their commitment to the community, not just in keeping us safe, but for helping us enjoy the holidays.
