Red Light Texting is Legal

As we all know, texting and driving is against the law. You can rack up large fines, points on your license, and most importantly, you are risking your life and the lives of others.

 

BUT--

What about at a red light or stop sign? You’re technically not in motion or driving, so according to NY state law, you are permitted to use an electronic device.  (This does not apply to commercial vehicles.)
