Second Precinct Officer Claudia Delgado Hosts Holiday Turkey Giveaway

Last Friday, Community Liaison Officer Claudia Delgado of the Suffolk County Police Department's Second Precinct hosted a Holiday Turkey Giveaway for families that were in need of meals this holiday.

Approximately 300 frozen turkeys were graciously donated by Andre and Pat Sorrentino of The Sorrentino Trucking  Co. and Makinajian Poultry Farm in Huntington to be handed out to these families.

Officer Delgado worked closely with several community groups in Huntington to identify these families in need.  These community groups included the Tri-CYA, St. Hugh of Lincoln Parish Outreach, Friends of Huntington Station Latin Quarter, the Town of Huntington Senior Center and the Huntington Station Enrichment Center.

These families were then given a voucher to receive one turkey at a designated distribution point between 6-8 p.m.

Officer Delgado was assisted in the distribution by her fellow officers of the Second Precinct, members of the Second Precinct Explorer Post, members of the Huntington Manor Fire Department and various other members in the community.

Also in attendance were New York State Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci, Suffolk County Legislator William Spencer and Town of Huntington Highway Superintendent Peter Gunther. The giveaway was an amazing success with 290 turkeys distributed to families in need.
