Parade, Food and Festival Fun in Huntington

Fall festival, restaurant offers expected to draw patrons from around Long Island.

Three big events are coming up in Huntington this week.

The 19th annual Long Island Fall Festival, the largest festival on Long Island, launches Friday at 3 p.m. Musical acts, vendors, a carnival, farmers' market and a lot more form the backbone of the Heckscher Park event.

The festival runs through Monday.

On Sunday, the Columbus Day parade will move along Main Street from noon to 3 p.m.

High school bands and more than 25 lodges of the Order Sons of Italy will march, with Bernadette Castro, former parks commissioner, and Capt. James Byler serving as grand marshals.

And Dine Huntington, a weeklong promotion of restaurants offering special deals, starts Sunday. More than 40 restaurants from Cold Spring Harbor to Dix Hills will offer three-course prix-fixe meals for $24.95.

Many menus are available online and patrons are encouraged to make reservations now.
