July 2: Screenwriters' Group; More Heat

5 things you need to know today.

1. Heat To Continue: Monday and Tuesday are expected to be sunny and warm with highs approaching 90, slightly better than the weekend's temperatures. Spotty afternoon storms are possible throughout the week, and the National Weather Service is predicting the potential for harsh storms for Long Island on for July 4.

2. Screenwriters' Disussion Group: Founded more than 20 years ago, the Cinema Arts Centre Scrennwriters' Discussion Group meets every other Monday at 7:30 p.m. The group will meet July 2 in the Sky Room Cafe to read, discuss and critique members' screenplays, whether complete or in progress. Free admission. Open to all screenwriters.

3. Blood For Tickets: Receive a pair of New York Mets tickets in exchange for  July 3 at the  of the Half Hollow Hills Community Library. Call (631) 421-4530 to sign up.

4. Food Donations Needed: The  is looking for donations of empty bags, food, clothing, household items, baby items, books to share. Drop off goods at Fairground Ave. and E. 6th St., Huntington Station, every Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
