Huntington Feeds the Hungry

Volunteers pack and deliver food to those in need.

With Thanksgiving just a few days away, scores of volunteers of all ages were busy Saturday, packing up and delivering food for needy Huntington families.

At the YMCA, volunteers, with an assist from the Town of Huntington, worked with the Y staff, Kiwanis Club and College Hunks to organize and deliver food to about 60 families. College Hunks provided many of the boxes and delivery services.

At Old First Church, members organized to feed more than 120 families, hauling boxes from long, neatly lined up, rows of chairs holding the donations.

And at St. Hugh of Lincoln Church in Huntington Station, volunteers packed boxes and vehicles, including Boy Scout Troop 218, sorted food donations for packing and delivery to those in need.

Donations  this weekend aren't limited to food. On Sunday, a group of Harley bike riders will delver toys to the Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Center in Dix Hills.
