Soccer Tourney to Fight Breast Cancer

Northport Cow Harbor United Soccer Club holding 25th games in support of the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund

The Northport Cow Harbor United Soccer Club raised $32,000 for breast cancer research in its annual Columbus Day weekend tournament last year. This year, the goal is to beat the previous total during its 25th anniversary.

The tournament, which features 380 teams including boys and girls divisions from U07 to High School, will take place Oct. 12 and 13. A rain date is scheduled for Oct. 14.

The tournament will take place in fields throughout the Town of Huntington including at Harborfields High School, Oakwood Primary Center, Stimson Junior High School and others.

Last year was the first year that the tournament teamed up with the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund to raise awareness among the youth in the program and to donate money to breast cancer research.

To get in the fighting spirit, the club also sells pink socks and donates the proceeds to the research foundation. Last year, the club raised $15,000 from the sock sales alone. Many teams, coaches and parents will also be sporting pink shirts, headbands, bracelets, shoe laces, face paint and even pink hair on and off the soccer field. The fields will also be lined with pink paint. Click here to order the pink socks for $10.
