Blood Drive

The 3rd Biannual NSM sponsored Blood Drive is here!!!! Show your support for the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation and all DBA patients!

Every pint of blood donated has the potential to save 3 lives! We had 80 donors last year at this event, and would like to make this year even bigger!

We need all of your support to make this blood drive a success! To schedule an appointment time (or for more info) please call Naomi at 516-521-7438. Appointments are available in 15 minute intervals from 3:15-8:30 (3:30, 3:45, 4:00, etc). Walk-ins welcome, but scheduling an appointment helps to eliminate wait times!

Diamond Blackfan Anemia (“DBA”) is a rare blood disorder, characterized by a failure of the bone marrow (the center of the bone where blood cells are made) to produce red blood cells. This failure causes DBA patients to become severely anemic. It is important to note that this anemia is not the result of a deficiency in iron, vitamin B-12, folate, or erythropoietin, which is a blood cell stimulating factor. Although a number of theories regarding the cause of DBA have been proposed, it is now widely accepted that DBA is a ribosomal protein disease. For more info, please visit www.dbafoundation.org.

Babysitting will be available while you donate!

The school is easily accessible via Deer Park Ave and Wolf Hill Rd.
