Rock ‘n’ Roll Returns to Vanderbilt Planetarium
Stunning New Classic, Alternative Shows Premier September 6-7
The Suffolk County Vanderbilt Planetarium will rock again! On Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7, the Planetarium will premier two new, breathtaking, full-dome, rock music shows – classic and alternative – on the 60-foot dome of the newly renovated and technologically updated William and Mollie Rogers Theater.
David Bush, the Planetarium’s technical and production coordinator, said “The shows have a variety of artists, and each song has an original sequence of mind-blowing visual sequences as well as planetarium special effects.”

The Full-Dome Alternative Rock Show will be offered Friday nights at 9:00. Some of the bands include Nine Inch Nails, Beck, 311, Daft Punk, Radiohead, Muse and Smashing Pumpkins.
The Full-Dome Classic Rock Show is on Saturday nights at 9:00. Among those on the lineup are Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, U2, Aerosmith, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and The Doors.

Lance Reinheimer, interim executive director of the Vanderbilt Museum, said, “The Planetarium theater is the perfect venue for a full-immersion visual and musical experience that is almost as exciting as being on stage with the actual rock and roll band.”
