Meet The Candidates 2013 Forum
“MEET THE CANDIDATES 2013” FORUM, SPONSORED FOR THE FIRST TIME BY A COALITION OF LOCAL CIVIC GROUPS, IS SET FOR OCTOBER 9TH
– Town of Huntington citizens are
invited to participate in this event,
aimed at providing a forum for voters to question candidates before Election
Day –
The Greater Huntington Civic Group, Inc. and the Elwood Taxpayers Association, along with a coalition of other area civic groups, have jointly announced today that the “Meet The Candidates 2013” Forum is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9th at 7 p.m. at the Elwood Middle School Auditorium, 100 Kenneth Avenue in Greenlawn. All citizens of the Township of Huntington are invited to attend what is expected to be a dynamic and informative event featuring all of the candidates for local office.

The following candidates for public office have been invited to attend (listed alphabetically):

“Area citizens will e invited to directly question the candidates about issues of importance to them,” said Steven Spucces, president of the Greater Huntington Civic Group.
Among the key topics the forum is expected to cover: proposed housing and
commercial development projects, such as “Oak Tree Dairy”; the 2% tax cap; Huntington Station revitalization efforts; LIPA tax hike; residential downzoning and
rezoning; traffic congestion remediation; as well as various quality of life
issues.
The Forum’s civic group coalition also includes Greenlawn Civic Association, Manor Plains Civic Association, and Preserving Elwood Now. This is the first time that such a coalition has been formed to present a town-wide “Meet The Candidates” event.
