Cuthbertson Is Top Vote Getter

Huntington supervisor won re-election by 595 votes.

Mark Cuthbertson was the top vote getter in town elections Tuesday night, pulling in 18,868 votes on his way to re-election to the Town Board.

Town Supervisor Frank Petrone won 18,563 votes, or 595 more than his rival, Gene Cook, giving Petrone 50.79 percent to Cook's 49.16 percent.

Results from the Suffolk County Board of Election, which are unofficial until absentee ballots are counted, also show the other Town Board victor, Tracey Edwards, with 18,304 votes; and the two defeated candidates, incumbent Mark Mayoka with 17,466 and challenger Josh Price with 16,628.

For the other key town race, Pete Gunther ousted longtime highway superintendent William Naughton, with 18,402 to Naughton's 17,442, or 51.3 percent of the vote to 48.62.
