Wild By Nature Marks 10 Years in Huntington Village and Top Model Judge Coming to Book Revue

Welcome to "About Town," a new column that will keep you up to the minute with what's what, who's who and what the town's talking about. Check in often, because we will be updating often. And if you see something ... say something.

Wild by Nature received a proclamation at Town Hall on Tuesday to commemorate its 10th anniversary in Huntington. The store, an independent subsidiary of the King Kullen Grocery Company, has three other locations on Long Island outside its Main Street location.

This anniversary attests to the fact that Wild by Nature, and the mission that they promote, has become a part of our everyday community. The idea behind the store is that the production of food should support life, promote well-being and protect the world's natural resources – a necessity that few people would argue against. Not only do they offer a variety of healthful and organic foods, including a line of gluten-free products, but they also invite the public to a variety of lectures and health events at all of their locations.

A group representing Wild By Nature, including Huntington store manager Joe Scilla joined Joe Brown, co-president of Wild by Nature and vice president of marketing and sales for King Kullen, and King Kullen vice president Thomas K. Cullen, as they proudly accepted the town's congratulations.

"Other than some cosmetic changes taking place inside the store, there are no big plans for an anniversary celebration," Scilla said.

Upcoming Events at Wild by Nature: On Sept. 21, this location will offer a stress management workshop, which will show how breath, work, creative visualization, color wash, meditation and spinal health can help you manage stress in your daily life when applied regularly. Healthy Cooking Methods on Sept. 29 will teach fast, easy and tasty recipes using all natural and organic ingredients. A Long Island Green Presentation will have two dates, Sept. 24 and Oct. 7. Learn about Huntington EECO homes, a community based sustainability program sponsored by the US Department of Energy and the Town of Huntington. The program provides technical assistance on an individualized basis to homeowners that will allow them, working within their budgets, to maximize energy efficiency and save money. Any homeowner in the Town of Huntington is eligible to participate and there are no income restrictions.
